On Courage

You are reading this site and thinking that I have all the answers aren’t you?
Sorry to tell you that you have misread me.
I don’t.
But I do know SOME of the answers.
And I think that you will benefit from the education that I am at least trying to give here.
It has not been a perfect ride for us.
We have lost a daughter to drugs. Oh she didn’t die from drugs specifically. She died from other causes. But when she did pass away, we knew it would come eventually. That’s what drugs and alcohol addiction do.
And if you have success with the therapy that alcoholic and drug addiction centers offer?
That is a blessed, wonderful, encouraging, edifying, and fortuitous start.
It is a result of your prayers, your action, and the willingness of the addict to try again.
Never be discouraged or angry..disappointed or disgusted if the addiction brings a relapse. Don’t let it defeat you.
Hang in there. Support. Be there. And realize that you are most fortunate that your loved one is still alive and you are there to help.
Yes. It’s a bitch. It’s a pain. It’s an unbelievable agony.
But there is hope and there is success.
Pray, study, give advice, pull away and let the addict decide his/her fate.
But never give up.
Protect your peace, your sanity, your personal time.
Take care of YOU first of all.
And then give a percentage of that energy and knowledge a home. Do what you think is best and do it with a clean heart; not an angry or bitter heart.
That’s hard I know. God will give you the ability.
Do what you are learning here.

God bless. You will win this fight!
